Paws Awhile Berners - Bernese Mountain Dogs

PictureA friend of mine breeds Bernese Mountain Dogs and designer Bernoodles (Bernese-Standard Poodle hybrid) Paws Awhile Kennels. Paul is a great breeder who truly loves his dogs and most important takes amazing care of his four legged family.

If you are looking for a reputable breeder of Bernese Mountain Dogs then I highly recommend Paws Awhile Kennels.

Paws Awhile Berners is a professional breeder of Bernese Mountain Dogs and designer Bernoodles (Bernese-Standard Poodle hybrid). We operate in a humane and responsible environment. The Bernese is a highly social breed who craves the attention and interaction of people and other dogs. We are proud of our kennel-free facility where our dogs roam free throughout our 5 acre property.

We are located in the small village of Eady, Ontario. We're just a little north of Barrie. You are welcome to visit our facility and meet our pack. Most litters are spoken for by the time they are whelped, but you're always welcome to visit while a litter is being reared to see for yourself just how wonderful a Bernese puppy can be.
Our puppies stay under the care of their birth-mother until at least the age of 8 weeks, at which time, depending on their health and temperament, they are eligible for adoption. If you've done your homework on the breed, you know how big some of those puppies can grow! Please spend some time in our Meet-The-Parents section to familiarize yourself with each of our male and female breeders when considering the characteristics you're hoping for in your new family member.

When you feel your family is ready to adopt a Bernese Mountain Dog, we encourage you to visit our Upcoming Litters section and place a deposit on a male or female puppy from the upcoming litter of your choice. You can follow your puppy's development and begin to prepare for your new family member.

  1. Check out reviews for Paws Awhile Berners on Yelp. Reviews are all really bad with many similar experiences, showing a pattern of sketchy transactions. We recently dealt with this breeder, Paul, in Alberta. We were not given the pup we chose, nor was she micro-chipped as advertised. The ad also said the pups would come with a two year guarantee which we did not receive. Paul will not return my texts, and the kennel tells me that he has sold the business and taken all of his dogs to BC.
We never met Paul directly. I only spoke with him once on the phone when he called to tell me he was taking my pup for himself. His reasoning was that because she was multi-coloured, he could get triple the amount we paid. We were asked zero questions about our living arrangements and family dynamics. Very questionable behaviour from someone who is supposed to be a reputable breeder. 0/10 would not recommend.
